Salty…but oh so sweet!

I’m pretty excited because today I am hosting my first Christmas ornament decorating party. I’ve baked off all my ornaments using Christmas cookie cutters I’ve had for years and I’m having a few kids I know coming over to paint them while we drink hot chocolate and listen to holiday music. This is my first year in my own apartment so I have no holiday decorations of my own or a tree,so to me this was the best way to breath a little holiday cheer into my apartment, plus kids couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday and I’m always open to an excuse to act like a kid again! To make the ornaments I found a simple salt dough recipe that consists of, bonus everything you already have in your kitchen! The next part is easy; just set up your table with brushes, sponges, paint, glitter, glue, and anything else that you think will inspire these kids to use their imaginations and make their ornaments creative and unique! We are in the business of making memories, and nothing triggers a memory quite like your sense of smell! One whiff of something familiar and you can feel like you’ve been transported to a time and place long forgotten. So, we feel that the first and most critical step in making lasting holiday memories is to fill your home with the irresistible and heart-warming smells of the season! Stovetop Potpourri is nothing new, as I quickly found out when I went running to my mom with this awesome new idea. I remembered bowls of the dried up fruit and twigs around my house as a child, and they did smell nice when you put your nose up to them. Never did the idea of simmering the mixture pop in my head and to be honest, its brilliant!
